Milan is the Swiss-army knife in your production team’s pocket. With 11+ years of experience at the Metropolitan Opera, he has worked in all phases of the design and construction process.
Joining the Met team as a Project Manager for the Technical Department in 2008, Milan has been involved with scores of productions. He has worked on Carmen (Rob Howell design, Richard Eyre direction), From the House of the Dead (Richard Peduzzi design, Patrice Chéreau direction), Die Walküre (Carl Fillion design, Robert Lepage direction), Enchanted Island (Julian Crouch design, Phelim McDermott direction), Rigoletto (Christine Jones design, Michael Mayer direction), Maria Stuarda (Robert Jones design, David McVicar direction), and The Merry Widow (Julian Crouch design, Susan Stroman direction) among other notable productions between 2009 and 2015. In this role, Milan was responsible for CAD drafting, documentation packages for stage load-in (hang schedules, technical summaries), 3ds Max pre-visualization, and repertory revival management.
In his role as an Assistant Resident Scenic Designer (2015-2020), Milan has worked on Pêcheurs de Perles (Dick Bird design, Penny Woolcock direction), Otello (Es Devlin design, Bartlett Sher direction), Der Rosenkavalier (Paul Steinberg design, Robert Carsen direction), Rusalka (Dan Ostling design, Mary Zimmerman direction), Tosca (John Macfarlane design, David McVicar direction), Norma (Robert Jones design, David McVicar direction), Marnie (Julian Crouch design, Michael Mayer direction), Samson et Dalila (Alexander Dodge design, Darko Tresnjak direction), Agrippina (John Macfarlane design, David McVicar direction), Porgy and Bess (Michael Yeargan design, James Robinson direction), and Der Fliegende Holländer (John Macfarlane design, François Girard direction). His responsibilities included (but were not limited to) CAD design intent drafting and technical planning, 3D pre-visualization, in-process construction reviews, and co-production design coordination.
Milan is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829, with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics (Vassar College) and a Masters Degree in Architecture (Columbia University).
